Teledyne LeCroy SDA Series
3 models with full specifications from LeCroy (Teledyne LeCroy).
The Teledyne LeCroy SDA (Serial Data Analyzer) series is designed for physical layer testing, jitter analysis, and high-speed serial data standards compliance. These digital storage oscilloscopes integrate specialized serial data analysis toolsets with high bandwidths and high sampling rates to debug and verify high-speed digital designs. This page reviews the core design elements and hardware capabilities of the SDA 11000, SDA 6000A, and SDA 760Zi models.

Bandwidth and Acquisition Performance
Bandwidth and sampling configurations differ among the models to address various serial standard speeds. The SDA 11000 offers the highest analog bandwidth in this selection at 11 GHz across two active channels, or up to 4 channels with standard 20 GS/s acquisition. It provides a maximum interleaved real-time sample rate of 40 GS/s on two channels.
Both the SDA 6000A and the SDA 760Zi provide a 6 GHz analog bandwidth and support 4-channel operation. The SDA 6000A features a maximum single-shot sample rate of 20 GS/s across all channels, with an equivalent time sampling rate up to 200 GS/s. The SDA 760Zi offers a real-time sample rate of 40 GS/s when operating in two-channel mode, which transitions to 20 GS/s when all four channels are active.
Architecture and Interface Capabilities
Processing architectures and memory depth define the diagnostic speed and capture windows of these analyzers. The SDA 6000A is built on the X-Stream architecture using an Intel Pentium 4 processor, providing memory depths up to 50 Mpts per channel (or 100 Mpts maximum on two channels). In contrast, the SDA 760Zi utilizes the X-Stream II architecture, which supports up to 256 Mpts per channel depending on configuration.
Probing and input impedance choices also vary. The SDA 11000 and SDA 6000A utilize the 50-ohm ProLink probe interface. The SDA 760Zi expands this setup by supporting both 50-ohm and 1-megohm input impedances. It also features a wide array of physical connections, including USB, LAN (LXI compliant), DVI-D, VGA, and optional GPIB interfaces.
Physical Characteristics and Interfaces
Physical size and display dimensions differ across generations of the SDA series. The SDA 11000 utilizes a 10.4-inch SVGA color TFT-LCD screen and runs on the Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system. The SDA 6000A also has a 10.4-inch color TFT-LCD but features touch screen controls, weighing 18 kg (39 lbs) with dimensions of 397 x 264 x 491 mm.
The SDA 760Zi has a larger 15.3-inch widescreen color touch display with a 1280 x 768 WXGA resolution. It weighs 18.4 kg and has dimensions of 467 mm x 355 mm x 312 mm.
Frequently asked questions
- Can the vertical resolution of these models be extended beyond 8 bits?
- Yes. Both the SDA 11000 and the SDA 760Zi support an Enhanced Resolution (ERES) mode that can increase vertical resolution from the standard 8 bits up to 11 bits.
- What input coupling options are available on these analyzers?
- The SDA 6000A supports DC 50-ohm and GND input coupling. The SDA 760Zi supports DC coupling for its 50-ohm inputs, and AC, DC, and GND coupling options for its 1-megohm inputs.
